Announcement From The HS

Dear Valued Members and Supporters of FBB,

It has come to the attention of the honourary secretary of the FBB club (yours truly) that one of our beloved and valuable members, Miss Cherlyn 'Fbb-Blackhole' Oh, will be going for wisdom tooth surgery on Friday (21/9) and will therefore not be able to consume hard solid food for the next week or so and therefore will be reduced to eating porridge/ fruit juice etc, etc.

In light of this sad but necessary event, all FBB club members would like to sympathize and wish Cherlyn a smooth and God-blessed surgery and recovery! We hope that she will be able to recover fast and be back pigging out in the circle of ultimate FBB-ism soon :)

In a related topic, due to this event, the internal management of the FBBclub has proposed the setting up of a temporary 'Sandwich Club' to facilitate the recovery and emotional well-being of Miss Oh during this period of time. As plans are still under way, more details will be released soon..so keep checking for updates!

Sincerely,
Janice Tay
Honourary Secretary, FBBclub.

Many more reasons why being a FBB is important

HEALTH QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO . Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember:"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"

For The Vice President!

This is the introduction to a delectable dessert from the Coffee Club chain (do not confuse with tcc which means The Coffee Connossieur)! Finally managed to get a picture of it after having it today..and it's dedicated to MUD the VP of FBBclub because its called....The Muddymud Pie!!

Right basically this extremely fattening dessert is made up of two layers of ice cream, bottom chocolate and top Mocha. It has an oreo base and is topped by a ton of chocolate sauce and oreo crumbs. (Which you can see in the picture) Its about 10cm tall, no joke, and (I think) impossible to finish by yourself without feeling sick. Haha.

Well, go and try it! Guarantee satisfaction when you need some time-off to destress after school or work. But I claim no responsibility if you feel guilty after that. Haha.

Muddymud Pie, ~$10
at all Coffee Club outlets
(The ones at Holland V and Funan are recommended, but the one at Cineleisure is discouraged.)

All FBBs should visit Taiwan!

Hey all you FBB members!

As the title suggests, all FBBs MUST visit Taiwan at least ONCE in their lifetime! :) After I came back from Taipei, I missed the food over the the most.

So let me do an introduction to some of the food they have in Taipei, and where u can go look for it, should you visit Taiwan soon.

They have:

1) AUTHENTIC giant chicken chop (chao da ji pai)
This chicken chop is not the ordinarily sized ones we buy from the shilin stall here in sg. It's TWICE as big and a hundred times juicier and yummier. The stall is so popular that every night without fail, there will always be a queue for the chao da ji pai.
For the best and most authentic, visit the stall at shilin night market. Once you get out of their mrt station, you will see it. It's the stall with the longest queue every night!

2) Oyster mee sua
This super yummy oyster mee sua is like WOW! It's warm, silky, peppery, just like drinking thick hot soup. It slides down ur throat so smoothly and the oyster is woohoooo.
For the most famous oyster mee sua, you should visit Ah Zong Mee Sua at ximending! It's their flagship store, and you can see crowds of people queueing and standing around their stall holding green bowls, slurping on the mee sua. They also have other outlets in other parts of Taipei city. Do grab a namecard there for other outlets.

3) Lu3 Wei4 (or known to us as lor bah *simmered pork/chicken/duck in soy sauce)
The lu3 wei4 is extremely delicious and they are famous for their lu3 ji1 chi4 pang3 (chicken wing), lu3 ya1 (duck). If you are a fan of innards and all, you can find all sorts of lu3 wei4, from duck feet to chicken feet, to liver, heart, neck, wings, intestines and tongue etc. I personally tried the duck wing, chicken wing, liver, heart, chicken feet and duck tongue. And I must say, they are quite the yumms! My only regret was that I was too chicken to try the duck feet (coz they looked so webbed and eewww).
This lu3 wei4 stall can be found also in ximending. Just look for a long queue. Alternatively, just follow your nose towards the fragrance of the lu3 wei4!

4) Fruit juices
As FBBs, no matter how much we eat, we should also have some intake of fruits and vegetables. So for those who don't like the taste of it, you can choose to blend it into juices. Juices in Singapore costs a bomb, and they are often diluted and full of ice. If we go to the hawker center and ask for a watermelon juice without ice, I'm sure it'll cost at least $2.00 above. Else, we end up drinking more ice water than the watermelon juice itself.
In Taiwan, juices are pure and thick and only cost sgd$2!! My first encounter was when I decided to drink guava juice. To my surprise, the juice was really sweet and thick and I could still feel the guava pulp and seeds as I drank it! It actually tasted more like guava smoothie. There was no sugar added, no water added, and only a small bit of ice to make it cold. (I stood beside the aunty to see how she did it) Then on another occasion, I ordered watermelon juice. It was pure watermelon, no water and ice added! She took the slices out from the fridge and into the juicer. It was especially good on a hot summer day.
Fruit juice stalls can be found almost anywhere in Taipei. Do try it out, especially on a hot summer afternoon.

Okie, now I'm feeling hungry. Stay tuned for more food from Taipei soon!

Midnight Snack!

This blog is not moving! Hence..I have decided to post up something potentially helpful to all FBBs out there!

As you all know, we are all FBBs. (Let's hear a cheer for ourselves! "Like totally, that right! I even got my manicure!!..." okay nevermind you get the drift.) Hence, being FBBs, I'm sure all of you have had, at one time or another, the ever-constantly present MIDNIGHT CRAVING for good instant hot food!

So, one of those cravings hit me recently when I came back, therefore for the FIRST time in my life, I purchased a box of CP Shrimp Wanton from..erm..I forgot. But moving on, the quest for it to turn into a midnight snack failed (!!) and hence it became my breakfast this morning, which I have just finished less than an hour ago! (This review is the result of very swift action!)

This Wanton thingy is really simple to cook. Basically it's a pack of 12 Wantons and a small packet of shrimp flavouring powder for the soup. It's quite similar to instant noodles. The intructions are basically to put the flavouring into 600ml of boiling water and stir, then add all the defrosted Wantons for three minutes.

Amazingly though, this really quick-to-cook snack tasted super good! The Wanton skin was not too chewy and became smooth when it was boiled. The whole prawn inside (yah, one whole prawn!) was crunchy and tasty and didn't taste like it was too processed. The soup was really tasty too, although it had the usual taste of instant food (aka too-much-MSG). But then again, I guess that's what makes instant food taste nice! So I really enjoyed myself eating it!

However, the bad point is that you have to cook all 12 Wantons at one go, because the box says don't re-freeze it after defrosting. Soooo..you either have to be an ultra FBB and finish all 12 (I'd like to see someone try) by yourself, or you can find a partner to share them with you! And some little advice..the instructions says use 600ml of water, but I advise using 500ml so that you will have less but more tasty soup!! :)

CP Shrimp Wanton
$4.60 for 12 pieces
Available at almost all supermarkets

Therefore...my FBB rating for CP Shrimp Wanton is...
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

P/S: I did not finish all 12 Wantons by myself! But that is not a FBB violation of conduct, I'm sure..
